The Hutchinson Sports Arena will be the center stage on Thursday as the Hillsboro Trojan girls' basketball team takes on the Cheney Cardinals in the first round of the State Basketball Tournament. The girls paved their way to the tournament by defeating Mission Valley in the championship game of sub-state 42-38.
Harold and Lorene Kleiber will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on March 27 with an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. at the First Mennonite Church fellowship hall. Harold Kleiber and Lorene Miller were married on March 22, 1943, in Columbia, S.C., where he was serving in the U.S. Army.
Architect George Krievins of Prigmore & Krievins Architects in El Dorado reviewed the remodeling plans of USD 410 at the board of education meeting. The approximate $300,000 to $350,000 project is to be completed by the start of school in the fall. The largest portion of the school remodeling project cost is due to air conditioning, which will amount to between $90,000 and $100,000 of the total project.
An open house will be held in honor of the 75th birthday of Salome Friesen from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. March 21 at the Hillsboro United Methodist Church. Hosting the event will be Joan Friesen, Debbie Ratzloff, and Denise Unruh.
Max and Geneva Stacy of Hillsboro will celebrate their 45th wedding anniversary on March 14 with a family celebration.
