The Mennonite Brethren Missions/Services office at 315 S. Lincoln in Hillsboro will soon close, marking the end of an era. The mission established its first office in Hillsboro in 1936, in the home of Henry W. Lohrenz. Since 1953, it has occupied its present location at South Lincoln.

Sheldon and Karen Miles of Hillsboro announce the birth of their daughter, Jandee Lee, born May 15 at Salem. She weighed eight pounds and 13 1/2 ounces. Grandparents are Jerry and Joan Jost of Hillsboro and Virginia Miles of Marion.

Vice President for Institutional Advancement Loren Friesen has announced Tabor College is the recipient of an $88,000 grant from the Teagle Foundation Inc. of New York City. The grant will be used over the next two years.

Marion County's March preliminary unemployment rate was 2.8 percent which was lower than the state average of 3.6.

Oliver Huang and Phil Goertzen upset the No. one seeded doubles team from Belleville at regionals to qualify for state.

The Hillsboro High School boys' track team captured the Mid-Kansas League track title and the girls' team finished in second place at the meet held on May 15 at Remington High School.
