Hillsboro High School principal Gordon Mohn become superintendent of USD #410 Monday night after school board members approved his two-year contract at an annual salary of $54,000.
Herman and Minnie (Unruh) Martens will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Sunday, March 1, with an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. at Parkside Homes. Family and friends are invited.
The seventh grade girls' basketball team defeated Wichita Collegiate 29-8. Ruthie Harder scored 15 points to pace the Trojans. She also had six steals. Keli Chisholm had eight points and six rebounds. Riann Hill had four points, seven rebounds and five steals. Regan Rowe added two points. The team is 9-0 overall and 6-0 in the Mid-Kansas League.
The out-of-town guests that came to help celebrate Martha Craft's Feb. 2 birthday were Mr. and Mrs. John C. Voth, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Voth and John and David, and Dennis Voth, all from Hooker, Okla.
The Hillsboro High School girls' basketball team lost two games last week in the Mid-Kansas League. The Trojans were defeated by Remington in double-overtime 59-54.
The challenges involved attracted Pam Riesen, Hillsboro wife and mother of two boys, to the job of executive secretary for the chamber of commerce and the secretary of the Marion County Fair Board.
