Kevin Winter, son of Warren and Jean Winter, rural Hillsboro, has been selected as the South Central Kansas FFA District Proficiency Award winner in dairy production. Winter will be awarded a plaque and a cash award at the District Convention to be held April 3 in the Hutchinson area.

Jon Christiansen, HMS 8th grader, has qualified to compete in the state competition of the national Geographic Geography Bee along with approximately 100 other Kansas students. Christiansen qualified by competing in the school geography bee held at HMS last October.

In March, Hillsboro will welcome new insurance agent Becky Walsh of Wichita. Walsh will succeed State Farm Insurance Agent Keith Lynn who has accepted a district management position with State Farm in Muskogee, Okla. Walsh is a native of Collyer and a 1984 graduate of Kansas State University with a bachelor of science degree in exercise physiology and a masters degree in adult occupational education.

The Hillsboro Historical Society and Museum Board has set March 1 as the official opening date for the Adobe House Museum
