Lonn and Beverly Richards of Hillsboro announce the engagement of their daughter, Arlene Kaye Richards of Hillsboro to Leigh J. McGonigle, son of Phyll and Janet McGonigle of Nickerson.
Michelle Galle, daughter of Norman and Connie Galle of Hillsboro, will study social service in Phoenix, Ariz., during the Hesston College January interterm. Galle, a freshman at Hesston College, will join other students as they learn about a variety of urban issues and social problems.
Keith Harder of Hillsboro has been named to the Prairie View board of directors.
The Moundridge girls' basketball team made its mark in Hillsboro Friday night, going home with the 42-37 victory. Moundridge, a 2A power in basketball, has only one loss on the season. It has been at least three years since Hillsboro has beaten Moundridge on the court.
The junior varsity girls' basketball team defeated Moundridge 57-34. Lyn Loewen led the team with 10 points. The freshmen girls defeated Moundridge 37-19. Riann Hill led the team with 11 points.
Jason Hamm took second place Saturday as the Hillsboro High School wrestling team competed in a tournament held at Herington. Hamm, 275, was pinned in the finals by Flint Hills' Scobee.
