A hungry Halstead team came looking for a win Friday night but left with a loss as the Trojan boys won the game 66-48. Jeff Kreutizger led the team in scoring with 17 points. He also had 10 assists.
Marion County Commissioners struggled for two hours over landfill business Monday with the help of Tom Gross of the Kansas Department of Health and Environment and in the presence of 12 interested persons from Marion and Dickinson counties and landfill operator Steve Grosse.
An increase from Hillsboro's electric supplier, Kansas power and Light, will be passed on to the city's electrical customers. The city council voted unanimously to approve an ordinance which would raise the electric rates by 4/10 of a cent.
John R. and Cronelia Nick\el will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an opn house on Sunday, Feb. 20, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Trinity Mennonite Church in Hilslboro. John R. Nickel and Cornelia Epp were married on Jan. 26, 1944, at the Johannestal Mennonite Church. Hosting the event are Judy and Him Schrag of Smithville, Ohio, and William Kala Nickel of Hillsboro.
Tabor women's basketball team won two in a row last week in continu8ing conference action including a last second thriller at home with Southwestern when the Bluejays prevailed, 60-59, and won in a steady effort at McPherson, 76-49.
