Hillsboro Planning Commission members seemed "McHappy"

with the site plan of McDonald's Corporation to build a fast food restaurant on east D Street, north side of the road, between Hill Crest Motel and Christian Destiny.

Spring semester enrollment figures released by Tabor College registrar Deanne Duerksen show a four percent increase over the spring 1993 semester.

Tabor men's basketball team made history Wednesday night by beating the McPherson Bulldogs in the final game of the KCAC tournament, 76-54, advancing the men to the NAIA Division II National Championship for the first time ever.

Hillsboro High School girls' basketball team defeated Smith Center at the sub-state championship 55-45 sending them to the 3A tournament this week. Hillsboro is seeded fourth, and this is coach Becky Carlson's fourth trip to state. Hillsboro, 20-3, will play Norton Community, 20-3.

The HHS boys' basketball team was defeated 95-57 by Beloit in their sub-state game. The Trojans end their season 17-5.

The Hillsboro Airport Board appreciates all the entrants who helped name the Hillsboro Airport. It will be called the Alfred E. Schroeder Field after Alfred E. Schroeder who grew up in Hillsboro and was listed as missing in action as a navy pilot in the South Pacific in World War II.

When Dr. Nathan Loewen left town in 1992, Teresa Regier, a nurse at the Hillsboro Family Practice Clinic, knew it was an opportunity for change. With a bachelor's degree in nursing, she returned to school and graduated in the first class of the family nurse practitioner program at Wichita State University.
