Stan and Lori Borg of Hillsboro announce the birth of their son, Kyler Logan, born March 6 at Newton Medical Center. He weighed eight pounds and was 20 inches long. He has two brothers: Kaleb, 9 1/2, and Kody, 7.
Going to the national tournament was one thing — meeting defending champs Williamette in the second round was quite another. The Tabor Bluejays lost to Williamette, 92-62, and are out of the tournament.
The Hillsboro Trojan girls' basketball team was defeated by Norton in the first round of the Class 3A state tournament, 55-51.
Marion County treasurer Verden Harms of Hillsboro has resigned his position as of March 15 and plans to retire. Harms has been county treasurer for seven years. He was appointed to complete three years of Kathryn Thole's four-year term and was then elected to the position approximately three years ago.
Ranney Vogt of Emporia, a Hillsboro native, was recognized and honored at the Twelfth Avenue Baptist Church of Emporia last Sunday morning during the worship service. A taped medley of his arrangement for strings on "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" is one of several songs Vogt has composed on his computer. It was played during the offertory.
