Three new employees were added to the city of Hillsboro payroll during last Tuesday's council meeting. Gary Anderson was offered the position as the new director of parks and Randy Scheffler as a city police reserve officer. Plans to hire a Manhattan vo-tech student for the summer were approved.

Pat Rupp, BSN RN, replaces Jane King as director of nursing at Salem Home, and Mabel Friesen, BSN RN, replaces Linda Harris as the director of the new Life Development Center.

Hillsboro area Girl Scouts sold a total of 2,207 boxes of cookies during the recent cookie sale.

Phyllis Nickel, a senior at Hillsboro High School, has accepted a Fort Hays State University Bronze Academic Scholarship and an Award of Excellence in Business Administration.

Greg Wiens was awarded the livestock production award at the 1994 State convention of the Young Farmers and Farm Women.

Pete Goering, 1966 graduate of Lehigh High School, has been promoted to managing editor in charge of The Topeka Capital-Journal newsroom.

The Hillsboro Public Library is now part of the INK network. The purpose of joining INK is to provide equal electronic access to governmental information to all Kansas citizens through INK access in the local library.
