The USD #410 Board of Education voted 5-0 to name the high school gymnasium Robert C. Brown Gymnasium after the former school superintendent in honor of his major role in developing excellent educational facilities for students in the district.
Gordon and Doris Dalke of Hillsboro and John and Orletta Wiebe of Winnipeg, Manitoba, announce the engagement of their children, Carrie Dalke and Kendall Heide.
Superintendent Gordon Mohn presented an update to the USD #410 Board of Education on the potential costs to the district if an early retirement plan is established.
West Winds housing development came last Tuesday looking for the OK to turn their shovels. They went away with the ground left intact. The Hillsboro City Council met last week, and no decisions were made to approve the final plat and issue building permits to the local developers who plan to build a housing addition on the west side of Hillsboro across from the airport.
Viola Jost and Linda Funk returned Sunday evening after attending the funeral services of Allen Bartel in Shafter Calif., last Thursday. Violet Bartel is the sister of Mrs. Funk.
Summer school will be held in Hillsboro this year, after board members approved plans to offer sessions at the middle school and elementary school June 13 - July 1. Last year's summer school was successful. Funding for the program is provided through a special at-risk weighting feature of the school finance act. The program is expected to cost between $8,000 and $10,000.
