Several Marion county students received degrees from Emporia State University in December. Graduates include Jennifer Kaye Unruh of Hillsboro master of library science and Alan Dale Weinbrenner of Hillsboro master of science.

The Tabor College Sports Ministries group, under the direction of assistant coach Rick Upchurch, will be participating in three weekend Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) rallies in January and February. The approximately 20 students involved in the ministries group will travel to Ulysses, Cimarron and Henderson, Neb., after the first of the year.

The Hillsboro High School boys' basketball team defeated Halstead 39-38 in a defensive struggle at Halstead.

The Hillsboro High School girls' basketball team lost to Halstead 36-39.

Christmas Day guests of Betty Bernhardt were Kayci Ann Fultz and Jerry Fultz of Olathe, Kenny and Bonnie Rindt of Lincolnville; Mrs. Lemon of Newton, and Rachel Lois and Wilbert and Dorothy Rindt of Wichita.

Pre-Christmas dinner guests of Esther Lindteigen were Jeff and Cheryl Lindteigen, Meghan and Kristopher of McPherson, Kenneth and Deanna Lindteigen, David Tripp of Canton, Mike Tripp and Suzie O'Dele of Wichita, Dean and Glenda Lindteigen and girls of Douglass, Mrs. Brian Lindteigen and Whitney of Derby and Cathy Seginhagen of Witmere.
