Tim Hodge and Dara Wedel were crowned HHS Homecoming royalty at a ceremony Thursday in the high school gym. The first annual Mr. Trojan pageant also was held and Henrik Akerman won the competition after competing in swimsuit, evening gown, and interview competitions.
Dale Lowry, son of Wayne and Elaine Lowry of Hillsboro, has achieved the status of Eagle Scout, the highest honor in the Boy Scout of America Program. His Eagle Scout project was putting together a mobile communications vehicle. The vehicle is equipped with pubic service and ham radio equipment, a large generator and emergency lighting, and can be used for all types of disaster.
Hillsboro High School volleyball players won their own invitational tournament Saturday defeating Moundridge in the finals and finishing the regular season 29-0. Hillsboro will play in the 3A sub-state tournament Saturday against Halstead at Southeast of Saline High School.
Former USD 410 school superintendent Dr. Robert C. Brown, now of Cheney, continues treatments in California for non-Hodgkins lymphoma cancer, a disease he was diagnosed with in July 1990. Brown served 14 years in Hillsboro as superintendent.
Rachel Mathis of Hillsboro is a member of the costume crew at Emporia State University for the upcoming production of "Guys and Dolls." Two performances will be given during the 22nd annual Homecoming activities on the ESU campus.
Jerry Lee Hinerman, Hillsboro, complete requirements for a master of prof. accountancy degree from Wichita State University during the summer of 1994.
