Hillsboro's first accumulation of snowfall amounted to a little over three inches during the weekend.

USD #410 purchased a new carpet mural to hang in the gymnasium of Hillsboro High School signifying the school's change to a new league. The mural was constructed at Hillsboro Carpet Center.

Local city and school elections may produce some new faces in elected offices, especially on the USD #410 school board.

Positions 1, 2, 3 and the at-large seat are up for election this spring on the board of education. Bob Unruh, position #1, Dr. Norman Galle, position #2, and Dwayne Reusser, position #3, do not plan on filing for re-election at this time.

Kathy Woelk, Hillsboro, was the grand prize winner of a week's expense-paid vacation for two to Florida in the Marion County Record's Dreamer's Holiday campaign. She and her husband, Bob, have two children, Jordan and Anna. The Woelks have one year to take the trip.

Marion County recorded a 6.17 percent increase in state sales taxes, according to a recent Kansas Department of Revenue report. The county reported $272,198.41 in October 1993, compared to $288,995.03 for October, 1994.
