Jessica Martens and Jeremy Duerksen were crowned homecoming queen and king Thursday night during the annual ceremony.
A Hillsboro pharmacist was named Pharmacist of the Year by the Kansas Pharmacists Association. P. Lou Greenhaw, owner of Greenhaw Pharmacy in Hillsboro and consultant to three Hillsboro-area nursing homes, received the honor Saturday, Oct. 2, during the Kansas Pharmacists 113th annual meeting in Overland Park.
On Saturday, Oct. 9, Hillsboro FFA members participated in the 1993 State FFA Horse Judging Contest. The event was held at the Buchman Ranch near Alta Vista. Jon Christiansen, son of Gordon and Pat Christiansen of rural Durham, ranked sixth in individual competition. Only one point behind Christiansen and placing seventh individually was Brad Daniels, son of Ted and Trudi Daniels, also of rural Durham.
New faces at Hillsboro High School belong to this year's foreign exchange students, Ivos Faulhamer and Sergey Nifontoff. Faulhjamer is a senior from Chrudim, Czechoslovakia. He is staying with Lloyd and Edna Funk of rural Hillsboro. Nifontoff is a junior from Krasnoyarsk, Siberia. His host parents are Max and Geneva Stacey.
The Tabor College football team got its first win of the season Saturday with a 43-20 decision over the Bulldogs of McPherson College.
