Seven Hillsboro High School music students have been selected through auditions to perform in the Kansas Music Educators Association District VI honor groups on Dec. 4. Selected for the choir were Jamie Hagaman, Angie Peters, Jonelle Unruh, Cameron Greenhaw and Jeremy Mohn. Brett Wiebe and Luke Handke were selected for the Class 1, 2, 3, 4-A band.
A new Kansas guidebook, Kansas Weekend Guide 2, lists seven attractions in the Hillsboro area. Some of the places featured in the Hillsboro area are Olde Towne Restaurant, Pioneer Adobe House, Friesen Dutch Windmill and A Nostalgic Bed-and-Breakfast Place.
Marion County honor roll students from Hillsboro include Taryn Ratzlaff, Brent Driggers, Adam Kleiber, Loren Jost, Jamie Hagaman, Jonelle Unruh, Jana Schroeder, Angie Peters, Jessica Martens, Phyllis Nickel, Melissa Warkentin, Rachel Mathis, Brett Wiebe, Treena Couts, and Chad Genandt.
The Hillsboro Arts and Crafts Fair was once again a big success getting bigger and better every year with an estimated 30,000 fairgoers. Fair director Deena Hawkins reported at the association's annual meeting that total sales reached $761,299.12. In the last three years, the fair has generated over $2 million.
