The men who founded Hillsboro's Development Corporation in the 1960's were doing "eco-devo" before anyone know how to spell it, HDC director Carol Wiebe reported at the economic development group industry appreciation dinner last Tuesday night. Wiebe noted expansions in local industry and emphasized the importance of maintaining Hillsboro's current businesses.

A resolution to forbid topless dancing and other "adult" entertainment was passed by Marion County Commissioners Leon Suderman, Linda Peterson and Charles DeForest at their payday session last Thursday over the protests of J. M. Kimbrough, who was present.

Roger and Stephanie Sinclair, Hillsboro, announce the birth of their son Lucas Andrew born Dec. 1 at Newton Medical Center.

The Tabor men accomplished a first at the Emporia State Jaycee Classic basketball tournament over the weekend. The Jays defeated Washburn University, ranked No. #4 in NCAA II, after Tabor's Bryce Wichert sank a three with only 2.8 seconds left in the game. Tabor went up over Washburn 91-90 for the win.

Students of the Hillsboro High School Animal Science class took a field trip Friday, Dec. 2, to the Jim Loewen family swine production operation. The field trip was part of the class unit focusing on Approved Livestock Management Practices such as procedures of livestock identification, keeping records, health programs, castrating and breeding systems.
