Four Hillsboro FFA members captured second place team honors at the South Barber Livestock Judging Contest held at Kiowa on Thursday, March 18. The event annually draws FFA youth from all parts of Kansas and Oklahoma. Hillsboro FFA youth participating included Jon Christiansen, Ryan Peters, Nolan Frantz, and Kendall Hein.
Lou Greenhaw, owner of Greenhaw Pharmacy, was awarded a fellowship in the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists. The fellowship is based upon earning points in a number of areas. The fellowship is renewed every three years and documentation is once again required for points in the appropriate categories.
In the book, Life after 50: A Positive Look at Aging in the Faith Community, a group of authors have focused their attention on issues concerning the older Christian, hoping to ease and excite the transition of aging as an active and vital member of the church body. Katie Funk Wiebe, editor of the book, is also a contributing writer.
Russ and Marci Cain of Marion announce the birth of their daughter, Alexis Nicole, born March 21 at St. Luke Hospital. Grandparents are Craig and Rosie Friesen and Larry and Judy Helmer, all from Hillsboro.
Corky Guy started the Tabor baseball season with an impressive opener. Guy, pitching a no-hitter, led the Bluejays past Friends 10-0 in game one of a doubleheader at Tabor.
Ben and Mary Wiens of Hillsboro and Brad Willems of Tabor College received Volunteer Awards from Prairie View.
