Hillsboro author Esther Loewen Vogt was at the Hillsboro Post Office Friday in conjunction with the issuance of the Cherokee Strip Land Run Stamp. Vogt signed copies of her book A Race for Land.

The Hillsboro Middle School track team competed in the Peabody Quadrangular April 23 in Peabody. The team came home with 19 first place honors, 10 of them from the girls' 8th grade team.

Larry Nikkel, Prairie View chief executive officer since 1983, has announced his resignation. Nikkel will continue to serve as chief executive officer through a transition period to be developed with the Prairie View board of direction.

Tabor College employees received recognition for their faithful service at the annual Faculty and Staff Appreciation Dinner April 23. Topping the list of those acknowledged for their length of employment at the college were Jack Braun, student development, 27 years; Marvin Funk, buildings and grounds, 28 years; and Ken Schroeder, maintenance, 30 years. Schroeder also announced his retirement.

The Hillsboro High School track team traveled to Halstead last Thursday to compete in the Conrad Nightingale Invitational. The girls finished fifth and the boys second.
