Tabor College professor mathematics Frank Brenneman will travel to Shah Alam, Malaysia, where he will begin a 15-month teaching assignment at the Institute of Technology/MARA.

Corey Jost, son of Karl and Marilyn Jost of Hillsboro, was selected out of 185 medical students at the University of Kansas Medical School to become a member of Alpha Omega

Alpha Honor Society.

Terry and Lori Bebermeyer of Hillsboro announce the birth of a son, Benjamin Lynn, born April 9 at Salem Hospital. He weighed 9 pounds 15 1/2 ounces and was 19 inches long. He has three sisters: Adrien, 9, Emily, 5, and Chelsea, 4.

At the invitation of Gov. Joan Finney, Jeremy Johnson of Hillsboro High School attended the Tenth Annual Governor's Scholars Award Program May 2 at Cedar Crest in Topeka, The recognition ceremony honors the top one percent of Kansas high school seniors. Johnson is the son of John and Judy Johnson of Hillsboro.

Walter and Edna Gaede will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house May 12 at Trinity Mennonite Church. They were married May 25, 1943, and have lived in the Hillsboro area all their lives. Hosting the event will be their children: Myrna and Randy Krehbiel, Aaron and Matthew of North Newton; Delbert and Peg Gaede, Adam and Erin of Santa Cruz, Calif.; and Priscilla and Charles Neal of Joplin, Mo.

Low bidder Williams Construction of Wichita submitted a base bid of $332,400 to remodel the high school.
