A group of 83 young people from 27 different countries visited Hillsboro for a retreat and sightseeing tours sponsored by the MCC. Rodolfo Sanchez and Oliva Murcia, international visitors from Columbia, performed a native folk dance from their country at Parkview Mennonite Brethren Church Friday evening.
Hillsboro businesses will benefit the most from the construction of a new motel, KSU extension specialist David L. Darling reported to the city council during a special meeting last Thursday night.
Area residents will have several decisions to make in an upcoming primary election involving the Hillsboro mayor, city council and USD #410 school board positions. Vying for these positions are Delores Dalke, Bob Hein, Geneva Stacy, Jim Brennan, Mike Allen, Paul D. Miller, Dale Winter, Reg Matz, and Jan Frantz.
Don Richardson, the featured speaker at Tabor College's 1995 Mission Conference, will provide a first-hand view into life as a foreign missionary. In 1962, the Richardsons embarked on a missionary career in Irian Jaya. They lived and worked among the Sawi, a Stone Age tribe of tree-house dwelling cannibals who practiced head hunting and valued treachery as an ideal. Don's first book, Peace Child, tells the dramatic story of how the Richardsons were able to communicate the Gospel to the Sawi.
Hillsboro High School musical group, Spirit 'N' Celebration, has been asked to perform at the 34th annual Kansas Prayer Breakfast Monday in Topeka. The group is under the direction of David Clark.
