Max and Krista Heinrichs of Minneapolis announce the birth of their daughter, Tara Mackenzie, born June 4. She weighed 8 pounds, 14 ounces and was 21 inches long. She has a sister, Samantha, 2. Grandparents are Allen and Dorothy Pankratz and J. Max and JoAnn Heinrichs, all of Hillsboro.
The negotiations process between the USD #410 school district and the #410 education association has come to a standstill. The board voted 7-0 to declare the process at an impasse and file the necessary documents.
Chester and Bernice Unruh of Hillsboro will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2 to 4 p.m. June 21 in the fellowship hall of the Trinity Mennonite church in Hillsboro. Chester Unruh and Bernice Bartel were married March 20, 1942, at the Johannestal Mennonite Church by Rev. J.M. Regier.
Construction on the new media center at Hillsboro High School is well on its way to completion. The new addition will house library facilities, a two-way instructional video room, yearbook and darkroom facilities, project rooms storage, rest rooms and a multi-purpose room. The addition is scheduled for completion Aug. 1.
Marion County Commissioners tabled a tire disposal idea presented by Gene Winkler of Gene's Tire and Service Center in Marion after much discussion at their regular Monday meeting. Winkler was looking into the possibility of purchasing a tire cutting machine that would reduce individual tire volume by 60-75 percent.
