In what seems like a strange case of deja vu, the Hillsboro teachers and the USD #410 school board are once again at impasse. This has been a busy negotiation year for school districts. There are 31 school districts in Kansas at impasse.

Ben and Mary Wiens of Hillsboro will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Aug. 2 at the Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church. Ben J. Wiens and Mary Wall were married Aug. 20, 1942, in Mountain Lake, Minn.

The USD #410 Board of Education offered teaching contracts to Vera Isaac of Hillsboro, half-time kindergarten; Susan Decker of Hillsboro, second grade; Mike Jilka of Hill City, second grade; Shirley Baltzer of Lehigh, half-time elementary music; and Kristi Krispense of Marion, middle school math and technology.

Head to Toe Beauty and Suntanning Salon stylists completed 35 haircuts Saturday during the cut-a-thon to benefit local resident Suzi Ollenberger's medical expenses. All proceeds from haircuts were given to Ollenburger for her upcoming bone marrow transplant.

Tabor College preliminary figures show that for the fourth consecutive year, the college will see a balanced budget for the 1991-92 fiscal year. Final figures are subject to completion of the year-end fiscal audit. In addition to the annual fund drive, more than $134,000 was given to Tabor in estate gifts.

The city of Hillsboro has issued a plea to its electrical customers to help keep their utility bills low. The summer season is July, August and September. The peak time of each day is from 2 to 7 p.m.
