Marion County Appraiser Max Hayen informed the county commissioners at their end-of-the month meeting Friday that the new computer for the courthouse has arrived and is scheduled for installation April 14. It weighs in at 121 pounds, compared to 500 plus pounds that the old unit weighed.
Amy and Damian Ratzlaff demonstrated some of the equipment at their new business, The Body Shop. The fitness center is located on North Main Street in Hillsboro. The Ratzlaffs are Hillsboro natives and HHS graduates.
Dr. Gordon and Karen Wiebe, Hillsboro, have received a one-year leave of absence from Tabor College for the 1995-96 school term, pending board approval. Dr. Wiebe is professor of elementary education and chairman of the teacher education department. Karen serves as an adjunct faculty member in the communications department. They accepted positions at Rosslyn Academy, a missionary school in Nairobi, Kenya.
Cheri Bentz and Spencer Hedstrom have been awarded the national I Dare You Leadership Award in recognition of personal integrity, balanced living and potential for leadership.
Several HHS students attended the League Art Festival in Lyons March 30 with instructor Jason Garr. Those attending included Jon Christiansen, Wendi Suderman, Chris Bartel, Jessica Clark, Dawn Anderson, Mike Unger, and Naila Kunantaeva.
Paul Epp, Hillsboro EMT crew captain, received the Outstanding Attendant Award at the Kansas Emergency Medical Technician's Association state meeting April 1-2 in Garden City. Epp has been an EMT since 1979 and crew captain since the early 1980's.
