Members of the Hillsboro High School vocal music department are in rehearsal for the forthcoming production of "Leader of the Pack: The Ellie Greenwich Musical." The play stars HHS seniors Ty Klein and Billie Jo Sommerfeld.

Kathie Frenzen has been hired at Arnold Beauty Shop as a new stylist. Frenzen has several years of hairstyling experience

Nine Hillsboro students were recently honored for their outstanding performance in the area of reading or mathematics. The Kansas State Board of Education recognized these students after they scored in the top 2 to 3 percent out of approximately 110,000 students tested during the spring 1992 mathematics and reading assessments. Students honored for high scores on the reading test include Rachel Mathis, Brett Wiebe, Jamie Hagaman, Jonelle Unruh, Loren Jost, Amy Goertzen and Jessica Penner. Students honored for high scores on the mathematics test were Scott Isaac and James Meier.

The Hillsboro Library Board approved 3 percent raises for the head librarian and two regular staff members at its monthly meeting.

Applications are now being taken for the Leadership Marion County program which begins Feb. 15, 1993. The seven-session program is a project of the Marion County Economic Development Council to establish a network of present and potential leaders and to give upcoming leaders the opportunity for growth and experience with community members in positions of leadership. John O. Dalke is the program secretary.
