Two Hillsboro businesses were the winners in the Hillsboro tree decorating contest sponsored by the Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce. The two winners were Delores Dalke, representing the Real Estate Center and Railroad Savings Bank, FSB, and Joyce Delk, representing Pizza Hut.
Facility improvement was high on the agenda of the USD 410 Board of Education meeting. Following a discussion led by superintendent Gordon Mohn, who offered some considerations for building upgrades and how to pay for those improvements, the board approved 7-0 a motion to hire the architectural firm of Prigmore & Krevins of El Dorado to formulate plans for remodeling the high school.
Frank and Jean Flores of Wichita announce the birth of their son, Tyler Christopher, born Dec. 4 at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita. Grandparents are Wayne and Carol Ollenburger of Hillsboro, Frank Flores of Wichita, Virginia Murillo of Bellingham, Wash. Great-grandparents are Leonard and Elma Klein of Hillsboro and Hannah Ollenburger of Hillsboro.
After a disappointing loss last Saturday to Ottawa at home, the Tabor men's basketball team upped its record to 3-1 in the KCAC with hard-fought victories against Bethel last Tuesday and Kansas Wesleyan on Saturday.
The Marion Warriors came from behind to defeat the Trojan boys' basketball 69-67 at home.
The newly formed Hillsboro High School drill team will give its first performance Friday at the basketball game. Members of the team are Christine Pawloski, Kayla Shaffer, Vicki Willems, Jenny Hiebert, Kristy Funk Sarah Crocker, and Brandy Neufeld. Joan Vinduska is the sponsor.
