The Hillsboro High School scholars' bowl team took second place out of 24 teams at the McPherson tournament Saturday. The team members were Sarah Crocker, Jeremy Johnson, Luke Handke, and Jon Christiansen.

Thirty-nine Hillsboro High School FFA members participated in the South Central Kansas Agriculture Education Poultry and Dairy Foods School and Contests held at Inman Friday. Twenty-four schools are in the district. In the poultry contest A team competition, the local youth ranked second.

The eighth grade girls' basketball team defeated Sterling 34-18 Thursday. Jennifer Siebert led the team in scoring with 10 points. Ruthie Harder, Riann Hill and Keli Chisholm scored eight points each. Hill led the team in defensive play with 11 rebounds, one steal and one assist.

The city of Durham was without water for several hours last Tuesday when the line was ruptured by a bulldozer at the underpass, where the railroad bridge is under construction.

USD #410 school board members approved a swap of district territory with the Goessel school district during Monday night's meeting. USD #410 will gain approximately $3,000 in assessed property valuation from the trade agreement if given the final go-ahead from the Kansas State Board of Education.

Pam Riesen, Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce executive secretary, and Daniel Crouse of Hillsboro Industries have been selected as members of the Leadership Marion County class.
