Wichita State University announced the names of students who are on the WSU dean's honor roll for the fall semester of 1992. Kathy Mae Schale of Hillsboro was on the honor roll.

Local students making the University of Kansas honor roll for the fall semester included Amy Lynn Klaassen, John M. Dick, and Lorel Ann Ranney.

Ryan Peters of the Hillsboro High School FFA Chapter captured second place honors in the State FFA Public Speaking Contest held at Garden City. He is the son of Van and Linda Peters of rural Lehigh.

The Tabor College men's basketball team finished regular season play in great fashion by knocking off number four ranked Southwestern 91-80.

The Marion County economic development group received a shot in the arm recently after county commissioners approved a $3,000 financial request from the council.

Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Winter of Hillsboro announce the engagement of their daughter, Holly, to Thayne Meier, son of Cinda Anderson of Tampa and Weldon Meier of Lehigh. A May 8 wedding is planned.

If you know Tabor women's basketball, you know the standouts: Susan Decker, Colleen Ratzlaff, Grace Jaworski, Susan Carter and Shirley Clark. One more name can be added to that list: Rebecca Wichert. Wichert broke the season scoring record last Tuesday by scoring 22 points against Southwestern College. She closed her regular season with 562 points.

The Salem Hospital board discussed the possibility of doing a study to consolidate the health care systems in Marion County at its regular meeting.
