Tabor College will celebrate the official opening of its 85th academic year at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 5 in opening convocation held in the gymnasium. An installation ceremony will be held for interim college president Dr. Clarence Hiebert.

The Hillsboro Planning Commission met last Tuesday night in special session and agreed to "the intent" of reaching a decision regarding Asset Recovery Corporation's special use permit at their September meeting.
Carol Gingerich has accepted a full-time position as assistant professor of piano and music theory at Tabor College beginning this semester. She is in the finishing stages of her doctoral work at Columbia University in New York City.
The Hillsboro High School girls' tennis team faced a lot of tough competition in its opening meet Thursday at the Sterling Invitational. In team scoring, the Trojans earned fifth place out of seven teams.
Sheryl Pankratz carded an 88 in the Hillsboro Women's 18-hole golf tournament Saturday to win the club championship title. Twelve golfers played in the tournament.
