Dan Harper is Hillsboro's newest police officer and comes to Hillsboro by way of the U.S. Air Force where he retired from being a police officer. A 20-year veteran, Harper was in law enforcement for 15 years as a criminal investigator, law enforcement trainer, and shift supervisor. Harper is married to wife Jami, who works at McConnell Air Force Base. They live on a farm in the Aulne area.

More than 90 Hillsboro High School students attended the FFA's regular monthly FFA chapter meeting held Tuesday, Aug. 24, during activity period in the agriculture education instructional area. Jon Christiansen reported on his trip late in July to the National Institute for Cooperative Education held in Cincinnati, Ohio.

The Hillsboro High School football team was defeated 6-8 in a defensive battle with Herington last Friday.

The Marion County Commission heard a special request for more space from judge Michael Bowers during a regular session on Sept. 1. Judge Powers and Jan Helmer, clerk of the court, also met to discuss the need for additional personnel.

Former Tabor College president Vernon Janzen will be the featured speaker at the 1993 Open Bible Conference Sept. 12 through 13.

Bob and Doris Arnold celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary.
