Merle and Marolyn Schlehuber of Hillsboro announce the birth of their daughter, Maci Marie, born Sept. 11 at Newton Medical Center. She weighed seven pounds nine ounces and was 20 1/2 inches long.

An otherwise routine zoning change hearing became not so ordinary when a group of area neighbors came to express their concerns. Hillsboro Planning Commission members met last Tuesday to discuss a proposed zoning change from A-1 agriculture to the C-4 highway business district. The property in question is 72 acres located 700 feet west of the corner of Ash Street and Highway 56. The city of Hillsboro is buying the land from Harley Koop for economic development purposes.
Tabor runners Carmen Richert and Ben Penner earned medals at the Maple Leaf Invitational at Bake University Saturday. Richert placed 12th and Penner 15th.
