Four high school students from Hillsboro were among 561 students competing in the Kansas Scholastic Press Association (KSPA) regional journalism contest at The Wichita State University. Winners include: copy writing — 1st Joy Nixon; Theme development and graphics — 1st Roxanne Goossen; Yearbook sports writing — 1st Ben Penner; and Layout — 1st Stacy Rochelle.
Hillsboro Middle School eighth grader Diana Koslowsky took third place in the Marion County Spelling Bee. She is the daughter of Ken and Carla Koslowsky.
