11 area players, 3 coaches picked for all-star game years ago
Eleven players and three coaches from Marion County have been selected to take part in the second annual Mid-Central Activities Association-Heart of America all-star game Saturday at Hesston College.
The event pits seniors from the two area leagues in a girls' game at 6 p.m., and a boys' game to follow at 7:45.
Marion County girls playing include, JuliAnne Chisholm and Tina Frick of Hillsboro High School representing the MCAA, and Jessi Hilliard and Elaina Newell of Peabody-Burns High School representing the HOA.
Seven of the 20 athletes in the boys' game are from Marion County, as well as both head coaches.
Marion High School head coach Rex Ostmeyer will run the MCAA boys' squad and will have Travis and Jason Hett from his regular season team, as well as Troy Frick and Lucas Hamm of HHS.
Justin Coup, head coach of Goessel High School, will lead the HOA team after guiding his Bluebirds to a fourth-place finish at the 1A state tournament.
His roster will include Travis Buller and Garrett Hiebert from Goessel, and Derrick Simmonds from Peabody-Burns.
