20 Goessel musicians qualify for state festival years ago

All scored high marks at regional festival

held at Tabor College

Goessel High School musicians participated in the 2007 Regional Solo/Ensemble Music Festival March 31 at Tabor College, Hillsboro, and qualified 20 entries for the KSHSAA State 1A Solo/Ensemble Music Festival to be held in Wichita in later this month.

Groups earning the top rating of I or "superior" were the brass choir, girls' vocal ensemble, flute ensemble I, flute ensemble II, clarninet quartet, and Elbiata Singers.

Individuals were Kristin Unruh, Amy Brubaker, Laura Unruh, Joylin Hall, Kory Hiebert, Cameron Voth, Nathan Amstutz, Chrystiana Voth, Austin Unruh, and Ryan Goertzen, vocal; Kristin Unruh, flute; Laura Unruh, Amy Brubaker, and Janessa Wedel, clarinet.

Students and groups earning a II or "excellent" rating were the boys' vocal ensemble; Bryant Miller, Sam Lehtman, Isaac Fast, Sara Sebring, Caitlin Goertzen, and Courtney Berkholz, vocal; Chrystiana Voth, clarinet; Kristen Hoffman, French horn; and Austin Unruh, saxophone.

Students are under the direction of choir director Greg Bontrager and band directory Bud Meisel.
