K.B. Bruce was elected president of the Kansas Press Service board of directors. The Star-Journal, published by Bruce, won first in use of pictures at the KPA convention.

Wayne Schroeder was elected president of the city council.

Mrs. Margaret Hiebert will celebrate her 86th birthday with an open house for friends and relatives April 24 in the family room on the lower level of the Salem Hospital. She is the daughter of the Rev. G.M. and Maria Harms Pankratz. She married C.H. Hiebert Nov. 15, 1916, in Hillsboro. He died in 1970.

Esther Vogt will be at the Mennonite Brethren Bookstore Friday to autograph copies of her latest book, Beyond these Hills.

Malinda Nikkel, associate professor of English at Tabor College, has resigned her position effective at the end of the present school year. She has taught at Tabor for 19 years in the areas of English, speech and drama.
