A come and go baby shower was given for Bev Plenert and son Joshua July 16. Hostesses for the event were Susan Dalke and Sharon Suderman.

Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Wall and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Flaming have returned after attending a Wall family reunion of 17 Wall cousins at Mankato, Minn.

Denise Meldley's show entry placed in the top 10 finalists in the American Polled Hereford Association's 5th National Junior Polled Hereford Heifer Show July 10-14 in Spring, Ill.

Dr. Dan Penner was elected vice president and board member by the Hillsboro Development Corporation Board of Directors to fill the unexpired term of the late Paul Rundstrom.

Mrs. H.E. Nickel hosted the Friendship Club July 12 in her home. Eleven members answered roll call by telling something scary that happened in real life or in a dream. Members brought their own handwork to do.

Mr. and Mrs. P.P. Klassen returned Sunday from Ulysses, where they attended the wedding of their granddaughter.

For the second consecutive year the 13-15 Hillsboro girls' softball team captured both the Cottonwood Valley League title and the post-season tournament.

Eileen Duggan of Durham, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John D. Duggan, and Brenda Hellman of Hillsboro, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbert Hellman, have been named to the Brown Mackie president's honor roll for the spring quarter.

Nona G. Duerksen of Hillsboro attended a one-day orientation session at the University of Kansas.

She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Willis Duerksen.
