A fire, ignited when gasoline spilled on a trouble light in the garage, reduced the home of Bill Locket to rubble Saturday, Jan. 8. Hillsboro firemen, fighting temperatures that were lowered to approximately 30 degrees below zero by a strong wind, found the Locket residence at 209 S. Floral ablaze upon their arrival at 4:15 p.m.

Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie Bartel, Mr. and Mrs. Irv Schroeder, Mr. and Mrs. Joel Franz and Rev. and Mrs. Roland Goering of Newton were Friday evening dinner guests in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Ablrecht.

Mr. and Mrs. Carl Decker returned from a three weeks' visit with their daughters, Mrs. John Hawbacker, Rev. Hawbacker and daughters of Harrisburg, Pa., and Mrs. Glenn Ginder, Rev. Ginder and daughters of Upland, Calif.

Mr. and Mrs. Abe Dahl returned Thursday after spending the holidays visiting their children and other relatives in Reedley, Fresno, and San Jose, Calif. Mrs. Sharon Schroeder and Janna accompanied them.

Lack of team height played a big part in Tabor College's loss to Bethel in women's KCAC basketball action here Saturday. It was the first KCAC loss for Tabor.

A decision concerning the fate of Lehigh Junior High School will not be made until USD 410's Board of Education hears recommendations submitted by a special study committee. Superintendent Dr. Marvin Schadt presented a proposal to move the junior high school to Hillsboro.
