A chain of weekend events left the city of Hillsboro without a city administrator and a secretary, but only for a brief period of time as Mayor Harold Wiebe acted swiftly in appointing temporary replacements. The city administrator left Hillsboro on a leave of absence which he had applied for at the Jan. 4 council meeting. His secretary was absent Monday morning without the necessary paperwork authorizing her absence.
Mr. and Mrs. Dale Galle and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Galle all of Moundridge were Friday evening dinner guests of Dr. and Mrs. H.F. Janzen.
Hillsboro fire units were called to a fire at the Vince Schroeder's new home west of Hillsboro Jan. 22 at 10:20 a.m. The fire, which caused an estimated $550 damage, was possibly caused by wood stacked too close to the fireplace chimney.
Mr. and Mrs. Dick Regier spent the weekend in Kansas City with their daughter, Pat.
Frances Schmidt and Louise Schmidt were Tuesday evening dinner guests of Emma Kohman.
Mr. and Mrs. Larry Jost of Marion, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Delk and Mr. and Mrs. Allen Heinrichs spent the weekend in Norton as guests of Dr. and Mrs. George W. Atkinson.
Monday night supper guests of Mrs. Carol Matz were Rev. and Mrs. Berry Reiswig and baby son Jason of Salina and Mrs. Ella Seitz and Lottie Ewy After supper guests were Mrs. Emelia Lubinus and Mrs. Ella Winter of Marion.
