Katie Funk Wiebe, Hillsboro author, will be honored at an autograph party for her latest book, "Good Times with Old Times: How to Write your Memoirs," from 2-4 p.m. Friday at the Mennonite Brethren Bookstore.

Todd Jost, son of Karl and Marilyn Jost of Hillsboro, became an Eagle Scout in ceremonies held Sunday at First National Bank community room. He joined Hillsboro Troop 129 at age 11.

Peggy J. Brown has joined the staff of the Real Estate Center. Brown became a real estate broker this year. She had become a real estate salesperson while living in El Dorado and in 1975 she was affiliated with Hopkins Reality in Benton. She and her husband, Robert, USD 410 superintendent, have lived at 206 S. Wilson for more than a year. They have five children, Clif, Pam, Clay, Kent and Kirk.

The Push 'em Derby, a new Marion County Fair attraction this year, may lack numbers, but it doesn't lack enthusiasm. Only Peabody and Hillsboro are officially entered in the race which will begin at 6 p.m. Monday and pre-parade entertainment. Each team has been building a push vehicle for the relay race. Members of the Hillsboro crew are Wendell Funk, Brad Abrahams, Gary Christiansen, Randy Schroeder, Thomas Beisel, Elmer Mickey, Kevin Winter, Kirk Thurston, Lonnie Funk, and Gerald Heide.
