Five more inches of snow fell on Hillsboro Monday, causing school closings, basketball game cancellations, and continued changes in area lifestyles. The mercury dropped to -7 degrees on Wednesday.

Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Driggers announce the birth of their son, Eric Lynn, born Jan. 19 at Salem Hospital. He has a brother, Brent, 2 1/2.

Hillsboro area students on the Tabor College highest honor roll include Lynn Bartel, Grace Jaworsky, Lois Loewen, Beverly Just, Steve Reimer, and Ronda Suderman.

David Suderman, Hillsboro High School FFA member, won a trip to Hawaii through a subscription contest for Kansas Farmer. He sold $270 in subscriptions to become one of a group of students from across the state who will be going to Hawaii in June for eight days.

Marilyn Yost from Dighton has been employed as director and head teacher of Happy Face Day Care Center. She will replace Linda Ewert, director and one of the originators of the day center, who resigned recently.

Hillsboro High School boys' basketball team claimed a third place finish Saturday night in the Adolph Rupp tournament at Halstead as they defeated Cheney 59-58. The Trojans lost a semifinal contest to Haven at the buzzer Friday night 58-56.
