Mr. and Mrs. Paul Pankratz of Durham announce the engagement of their daughter Donna to Tim Diener, son of Mr. and Mrs. Truman Diener of Hillsboro. Donna is a senior at Asbury Hospital School of Nursing in Salina. Tim is employed by Baker Brothers Printing Company in Hillsboro. An early fall wedding is planned.

Mr. and Mrs. John C. Poague of Salina announce the engagement of their daughter Sherry to Bruce Kunkel son of Mr. and Mrs. Eldred Kunkel of San Jose, Calif. Sherry is employed at the Hillsboro Guest House. Bruce is doing construction work at Marion Lake. A July 7 wedding is planned at the Parkview Mennonite Brethren Church.

Representatives of USD 410 Teachers Association rejected a second salary offer by the USD 410 Board of Education at Monday night's third open negotiations session at the elementary school library.

The Hillsboro High School girls' basketball team won its first ever sub-state title and a trip to the state tournament. Coach Leland Albrecht's team defeated Leon, 45-40, at Herington. The Trojans, with an 18-4 record, will play Sabetha in first round action at Buhler High School.

The Hillsboro High School boys' team closed out their season at 16-6 as they lost to St. Mary's, 75-69, Saturday night in the finals of the 3A sub-state tournament at Herington.
