A son, Bradley Dean, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Foth of Hillsboro on Oct. 5. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Walter Foth and Mr. and Mrs. Norton Jost.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Steinle and Mr. and Mrs. Marlin Steinle spent Sunday visiting with the Howard Weyend family in Topeka.
Members of Hillsboro High School's first drill team include Carmen Schmidt, Colleen Dirks, Shelley Friesen, LaVon Schellenberg, Deb Ratzlaff, Elaine Duggan, Melanie Kessler, Donna Funk, Shelley Helmer, and Tammy Flaming.
Sara Funk of the Insurance Center received her insurance agents license Sept. 14. She has been employed at the Insurance Center for one year.
Hillsboro High School volleyball team ended its regular season play on a sour note Tuesday night, losing to Hesston in three games. The loss gives the Trojans a 4-3 league record and fourth place. The girls finished 6-4 overall.
Cub Scout Pack 129 gave 24 awards and inducted three new members at its Monday night meeting in the scout house. Webelos awards were given to Doug Foyle, Kyle Gillett, Scott Blochlinger, John Goertz, Jeff Kroeker, Layne Wiebe, Sammy Funk, and Matt Dalke. Cub Scout Troy Smith received two silver arrows, and Cub Scout Todd Vogt received one. Those receiving their Bobcat badges were Ty Reusser, Mike Klassen, Mike Hein, Kevin Foyle, Charles Wipf, Shelby Dirks and David Buschman.
An Eagle Court of honor was conducted for Michael Harms, son of Verden and Shelda Harms of Hillsboro, on Oct. 15 at Marion Christian Church. Michael has earned 25 merit badges, 10 skill awards and has been continuously registered as an active Scout for six years.
