Fire gutted a two-bay service area at Dean Schroeder Motor Company Oct. 25 when gas spilled from a tank ignited. The blaze occurred at approximately 11 a.m.. There were no injuries reported. The total damage was estimated at $45,000.

The Hillsboro Business and Professional Women's Club delivered Welcome Wagon baskets to six new residents in November. Baskets were delivered to Dan Heinrichs, Carol Jenkins, Howard Hamm, Rev. O.K. Ringering, Roland Wiebe, and Fenimore Blow.

The Tabor women's volleyball team, tired from a crammed schedule, split matches with Kansas Wesleyan and Bethel on Oct. 25. The Bluejays defeated KW 15-13, 15-11, 7-15, 15-5. Tabor lost to Bethel 15-9, 15-8, 16-14. The loss to Bethel put Tabor in a season-ending tie with Bethel for the second year in a row.

Tam Jost of rural Hillsboro has opened Country Corner Salon in her home two miles south and one west of Hillsboro. She is a graduate of Sidney's Beauty School in Hutchinson and has worked four years at Arnold's Beauty Shop in Hillsboro and also in a Hesston beauty shop.

The Spirit of St. Joseph Life Flight was demonstrated to Salem Hospital personnel Monday. The helicopter, which landed on the Parkview Church parking lot, was explained by some of the life flight crew.
