Area residents contributed $684 to the Multiple Sclerosis house-to-house drive. Funds collected will go to support patient and community services for MS patients and to support research being conducted throughout the country and worldwide, to find the cause, prevention and cure for Multiple sclerosis.

In its new capacity as a Core Library, the Hillsboro Public Library will now offer extended hours. It will be open Monday and Thursday from 10 a.m. until noon and from 1-8 p.m.; Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to noon and 1-5:30 p.m.; and Saturday from 1-5 p.m.

After sitting out her sophomore year, senior Lynn Isaac has a starting role on the Hillsboro High School girls' basketball team. The Trojans ranked third in the state in Class 3A, are off and rolling with a 5-0 mark with the help of their senior guard.

With five wins already under its belt, the Hillsboro High School boys' basketball team is off to an excellent start. Hillsboro is in sole possession of first place in the MKL with a 3-0 mark. The Trojans were picked by the league coaches to finish second behind Inman, but defeated the Teutons in Inman. Hillsboro also defeated Remington and Halstead, picked third and fourth in the loop.

Kansas farmers seeded 12.8 million acres of winter wheat this fall for harvest in 1980, according to the Kansas Crop and Livestock Reporting Service. This is up 6 percent from the 12.1 million acres seeded in the fall of 1978.

County commissioners agreed to accept a settlement of $10,000 offered by Crawford and Co. Insurance Adjusters of Junction City who have been representing Ralph Steinborn, Jr., the defendant in a suit filed by the county against him as the driver of a Vigortone truck which overloaded the bridge east of Peabody and caused considerable damage.
