Two Tabor College spikers, Becky Carlson and Jeri McCabe, were named to the All-KCAC volleyball team.

Salem Hospital Board voted Thursday night to purchase three pieces of equipment as a way of maintaining and improving quality of care at Hillsboro's hospital. The blood gas monitor, fetal monitor, and resuscitator will cost an estimated $25,000 and will be paid for over the next 1 1/2 years.

The Hillsboro High School girls and boys junior varsity squads open their season Tuesday night at Hillsboro High School gym against Berean Academy Warriors. The boys and girls varsity squads will be playing simultaneously at Tabor College gym.

Artist of the month Dr. G. George Ens directed a tour of the 1887 Olde Towne building for elementary school children Thursday.

Grand openings are slated this weekend at two Hillsboro business firms on Friday and Saturday. The Greenery Nature Center. 128 S. Main, is owned by Mr. and Mrs. Elvie Loewen and features house plants, blooming gift plant, fancy dried fruits, and natural nuts and handmade gifts. Friesen Furniture Center, 112 S. Main, has doubled its display showroom area with recent remodeling.

Gerald W. Funk has been appointed general manager of Hillsboro Equipment, Inc. The farm machinery establishment will continue as it has in the past. Funk was named following the death of owner Marvin Heide.

Despite the loss of five seniors, the Hillsboro High School boys' basketball team will be vying for the Mid-Kansas League title. The Trojans return junior Lawrence Brenneman and senior Sheldon Klassen.
