Houseguests of Mr. and Mrs. Pete H. Klassen for several days this past week were Mr. and Mrs. Bill Stubblefield of Great Bend.

Mr. and Mrs. Ed Patry were Sunday evening dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Eberle.

A bridal shower for Cindy Beisel was held Sunday afternoon. Hostesses were Leona Friesen and Joyce Janzen.

The Hillsboro community has been challenged to the tune of $8,250 for new x-ray equipment for Salem Hospital. Albert Reimer of Reimer Motors Inc. has pledged $8,250 toward the purchase of the $16,500 image intensifier x-ray unit for the hospital radiology department if the community will match it over the Thanksgiving weekend.

Rudi Hiebert, sophomore at Hillsboro High School, was recognized for outstanding achievement at the Model United Nations at Emporia State University Nov. 1. He was given a Distinguished Speaker Award for his performance at the event. Hiebert was one of nine HHS students who attended the event.

Katie Wiebe, assistant professor of English and journalism at Tabor, presented two lectures at a conference entitled "Biblical Perspectives on Women in the Church" Nov. 18 at Columbia Bible Institute in Clearbrook, British Columbia.

Kenneth J. Neufeld has purchased the optometry practice of the late Dr. Franklin Harms. Neufeld holds an optometry degree from Illinois College of Optometry. He has practiced in Hutchinson for 12 years.
