Mark Janzen was recognized as the outstanding industrial arts student at Hillsboro High School during the awards assembly at the sixth annual industrial education open house Nov. 14 at Emporia Sate University. More than 300 Kansas high school students attended the open house.
The Tabor College men's basketball team was narrowly defeated by Bethany College 89-83 in a KCAC contest Saturday.
The last time for Ennis Unruh to sort the mail was Friday, Nov. 30. Unruh retired after 27 years as a rural mail carrier.
The new addition for Parkview Mennonite Brethren Churn nears completion. The lower level contains a youth center which features a fireplace. The addition is nearly one month ahead of schedule because of good weather. Dedication for the facility will be Dec. 9.
After trailing much of the game, the Tabor College women's basketball team came back to defeat Bethany College 73-66 for their first KCAC victory of the year Saturday. The two squads traded the lead back and forth until Tabor went up by three points with 1:23 on a steal and basket by Becky Carlson. The senior guard added a pair of free throws 40 seconds later to put the Bluejays up by five.
The Kansas Department of Transportation has scheduled a public hearing for Jan. 8, 1980, to consider the economic, social, and environmental effects of the design for relocating U.S.-56 in Marion County.
