Members of PRIDE interested in the Arts and Crafts Fair held annually in Hillsboro addressed more than 300 Christmas postcards to past exhibitors of the fair announcing the fair would again be held in September.
Christmas 1979! This year marks the tenth anniversary of what was a very exciting experience in the life of one former Hillsboroan, Margo Stratton, nee Schroeder, Miss Kansas 1969.
Mr. and Mrs. P. E. Heinrichs will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Dec. 30 at Parkview Mennonite Brethren Church, Hillsboro, with an open house from 2 to 5p.m.
This summer Ngondi Alfonso Kamatuka, a Tabor College junior from Namibia, South Africa, was selected by the citizens of his homeland to represent them at the United Nations. Namibia has a special "observer status" in the United Nations. Kamatuka's task is to help keep the United Nations well informed of internal affairs in Namibia until the time his country can be liberated form South Africa's control.
Ruby Patton, Hillsboro and Durham Elementary schools' artist for December, spoke to all pupils Dec. 19. She explained the origin and technique of tole painting. She also demonstrated the art by painting a mushroom for the children. Several pieces of her tole paintings have decorated the halls of both attendance centers during the month of December.
Tabor College's fitness center is expected to be ready for the second semester. The $35,000 addition to the gymnasium complex features a weight training fitness room and a classroom. Delmer Reimer, Tabor athletic director, says the new facility is part of a program to emphasize physical fitness for everyone. The addition to the gymnasium is about 72x22 feet and will house the fitness room or weight room and one classroom. The fitness room will be about 44x22 feet.
