Elected to three-year terms on the Salem Hospital Board of Directors at the annual meeting last week were Ray Franz, Marvin Ratzlaff, JoAnn Thurston, and Robert Loewen.

A resolution to sell the county owned Cedar Rest nursing home of Peabody will appear on the April 1 ballot as a result of a unanimous vote taken by the county commissioners at their regular meeting Monday.

By unanimous approval, city council passed ordinance no. 688 providing for the calling of a bond election in the amount of $325,000 for the purpose of paving the runway and approaches of the city airport.

The city's sludge truck has deteriorated to the point where it is not worth repairing. Bill Dalke has offered to sell a truck to the city for $2,500 and the old truck. Reimer Ford also submitted a bid for a truck for $5,400. Further checking will be done.

Approximately 30 attended the Hillsboro Historical Society meeting in the bank Community Room Jan. 31 which featured Kenneth Bittikofer's "Historic Kansas" slide presentation.

Eileen Butler, chairman of the society, urged members to renew memberships at the coming annual meeting which will be April 17 at 7:30 p.m. in the bank Community Room. She also explained that the annual meeting would feature H.B. Kliewer and A.E. Janzen who have begun an oral history project for the society.

Wayne Lowry, fire chief for Hillsboro, presented his annual report to the council. The total loss value from auto, rural and city fires amounted to $11,000. The department made 25 runs and logged only 139 emergency miles.

Fifty-nine applications for admission to Tabor College in 1980-81 had been received by the Tabor College admissions office as of Jan. 31. Of those 59, 39 applicants have been accepted. This
