The Hillsboro Kiwanis Club is presenting the Foggy River Boys at Tabor College Feb. 28. The group is billed as the "inheritors of a colorful music tradition, established in the 1940s and carried on through the 1950s by the original Jordanaires of Nashville's 'Grand Ol' Opry.'"
Anna (Mrs. John S.) Regier of Salem Home celebrated her 100th birthday Sunday in the family room at Salem with a gathering of her family.
An appearance by Wichita magician and illusionist, Max Armstrong, Friday kicked off the spring convocation series at Tabor College.
After holding an exhibition at Remington High School earlier in the day, members of the Athletes in Action entourage entertained the Hillsboro High School student body in a hastily arranged assembly Tuesday afternoon. Lee Erickson, former head basketball coach at Tabor College was responsible for bringing the group to Hillsboro.
Allen Grunau, director of institutional advancement at Tabor College, chaired the Feb. 1 session of the U.S. Board of Evangelism and Christian Education of the Mennonite Brethren Church held in Fresno, Calif. Grunau has been chairman of the board for the past nine years.
Tabor College men's basketball team had another close call in KCAC action Saturday, Feb. 9 but escaped with a 90-86 victory over Friends University.
Hillsboro High School girls stopped Halstead 54-36 for their 14th win in 15 outings this season. Gayle Klassen scored a game high of 19 points and also claimed nine rebounds as Hillsboro upped its MKL mark to 8-1.
