Hillsboro High School students competed in the Bethel College Business Skills Contest recently. They were Roseann Penner, Denise Funk, Shelley Friesen, Diane Penner, Jan Wiebe and Debbie Miller. Shelley Friesen took third in the typing II contest. The contest drew 142 participants from 12 schools.
Academic Dean Lorin Neufeld announced the resignation of Dr. Wallace Dunn, longtime professor of organ at Tabor. Dunn will be assuming the position of professor of music at Friends University in the fall.
Ethel Abrahams, artist for the month of March, demonstrated to both Hillsboro Elementary and Durham students the printing technique using a potato, linoleum and a wood block March 6.
The Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce sponsored Debbie Helmer in the Miss Thunderboat Regatta Pageant in El Dorado March 1.
Signs announcing the Block Mothers program in Hillsboro were put up during the past week at entrance roads into the city. Charlene Driggers, Sharon Schroeder and Jean Armbrust are members of the Young Mothers Committee which is in charge of the program. The Lumberyard donated the lumber for the signs and James and Emmajean Volland painted them.
Lucille Britain, Marion, has filed by petition on the democratic ticket for the office of Marion County Commissioner, 2nd District.
The Marion County Substance Abuse Board was created by a vote of 3-0 by the Marion County Commissioners at their meeting Monday, March 12.
